Neuer Partner: Beyond 40 Running
We are pleased to welcome Beyond 40 Running as a new partner. Herwig Leitner’s project documents how athletic performance can be systematically, sustainably, and measurably improved even after the age of 40.
Since 2024, Beyond 40 Running has been combining endurance training, recovery, and data analysis into a holistic system. The approach follows a line of reasoning familiar from lean management and operational excellence:
Goals and training phases are planned, measures are implemented, performance data is evaluated, and targeted adjustments for the next development cycle are derived from these findings.
The result is not a rigid training plan, but a learning system.
The 2026 Berlin Marathon at a Glance
Official net time: 3:15:49
The second half of the course was 47 seconds faster than the first, despite increasing
fatigue, with consistent performance and a significant acceleration in the final stretch
On-site: Burkhard Dietel followed the race and saw Herwig near the Brandenburg Gate
For us, Beyond 40 Running is a vivid example of how principles of continuous improvement can be applied to a different performance system.
The connection between endurance sports and corporate development lies less in individual methods than in a shared mindset: clear goals, structured implementation, transparent data, and the willingness to regularly review existing and refine existing approaches.
This is exactly what can lead to long-term performance.
